Help car dies after short time

Okay now I have another problem with my car. The other day I went to start it and let it warm up because its relatively cold here and it died about after a minute and wouldn't start again. However I had ran it a couple hours before and it was fine. So today I went to start it and it fired right up like it should and I drove it around for a few hours and it worked great. It got a little colder this evening and I went to run an errand and it died a couple minutes away from home...I waited for a bit and it started again, so I headed home and on the final turn it did it again...Is there something on these cars that doesn't work well in minus 20 celcius? I also have about a 3/4 full tank and even put some gas line antifreeze in because thats what I thought it might be before but now I don't know. I am 99% sure I have spark becuase I had checked it a few months ago and even just recently put new plugs and wires in. It seems like it only does it when its really cold and I am thinking its a fuel issue.

when was the last time you changed the fuel filter it might be it, or the pump check that too. do u have to keep your foot on the gas pedal so it won't go off? or it just go off when you are pushing the gas pedal? does it respond to you when you try to turn it on or nothing works including the lights?

Okay so I went to try and start it today and it wouldn't just cranked over and over, I'm pretty sure it wasn't getting enough fuel...anyways more to the point I was looking around in my engine bay and trying to see if I could smell gas, and I noticed that one of the hoses (the smaller of the two) to the charcoal canister was disconnected, my question is what does this thing actually do? I would like to know as well as would this contribute to a starting issue? It started once I connected it but I want to know if this is why.
