Help with Brake set-up

On an 88' can you use the rotors from a 93'? I ask this because a guy at the speed shop told me they were bigger and could directly replace the old rotors on the 88'. My friend and I are rebuilding his 88' and we want to put bigger rotors then the stock ones but don't want to pay an arm and a leg for a brembo set. The cheaper the better for this when it comes to price but we still want quilty parts. Any ideas. Thanks.

Have you seen these at the store. They are brembo and they are not that expensive.

no the FD rotors will not fit... you would need to make custom brackets to hold the calipers farther away from the center...

Wait ... this sounds like a contradiction...

Do you mean the rotors would fit, BUT, you would have to make brackets for the calipers?

or they wouldn't fit AND you would have to make custom brackets since it was a larger rotor in general?

Seems like making custom brackets wouldn't be that difficult, but I haven't really spent any time looking at them either...

Not sure how much bigger the FDs are, so maybe it's not worth the trouble...

The rotors would fit, however the calipers (even the 4 piston) would not then fit over the rotor.

Why are you trying to re-fit larger rotors on??? it will only make your handling worse (more sprung weight at each wheel) and with the stock calipers bigger rotors will not give you any additional stopping power.

To top that off... the 4 piston brakes are already really oversized for the FC, and with decent pads will give you professional race ability braking. It is not like the FC is some simple FWD economy car that someone wants to be a sports car, they came with excellent brakes from the factory.

There are even a couple people raceing IT classes that go back down to the single piston standard brake setup found on the base models.
