Help

Well, a new motor was just put in my old TII yesterday, and the fuel pump won't turn on.... I know this is pretty vague, but I thought I'd ask. Is there anything in particular we should be checking? We ran a test wire off of + post on the battery, and it turned on, so we know the pump is good. Without a multimeter we were pretty limited in testing, however, both the main relay, and the fuel pump relay/resister clicked over (which doesnt neccesarily mean there is power on the switch side of the relay, just the coil side, checked all fuses .... any help or common problems would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Interesting.. In every other car I've owned, the pump has turned on when in the on position... but what all does that bypass in the system? If the pump is not turning on while in start right now, then theoretically, it will still not turn on after that correct? I'm not tryint to second guess you, just looking for clarifictaion. Thanks

I erased the reply after I re-read your first post. I then figured you knew what was going on and what I wrote was a waste of time. BUTTTTTT.... Since I'm back, why don't you jumper the yellow two socket connector at the right front strut tower, close to the boost/pressure sensor(may be hidden under items in that area). When that wire is jumpered, the fuel pump will run, IF nobody has monkey'd witht the wiring. That yellow connector was put there for the technician to pressurize the fuel rails to look for leaks when he is doing maintainence. No, the pump only runs when the key is held to START and/or the car does start and then the micro switch in the afm makes the fuel pump circuit. At that point the fuel pump will run as long as air is passing thru the afm keeping the micro sw *made*. The jumper in the plug bypass the micro switch in the afm. That way the technician can check the fuel rails for leaks without the engine running and possibly burning the car to the ground if there is fuel leaking. Try the jumper with the key to IGN or On, what ever that first position is called.
