Help!

recently, when i was out of town, a friend left a light on in my rx7 and when i got back there was no power to the car at all. i figured this to be a dead battery. i tried to jump the car off but melted the jumper cables instead, and as far as i can tell the cables were on the right terminals. is there a different way that i need to jump off the car?

If you blew the main fuse and smoked the cables, you probably had your jumper cables backwards. The FC has it's battery connections backwards to most cars, and the battery lead with the Yellow stripe is the negative lead.

Or even more simple, the ground terminal for the battery is the one nearest to the headlight, positive is the one nearest to the shock tower.

If you are lucky you only blew the main fuse... if you are unlucky you will be replacing half the electronics in the car.

As mentioned above, the main fuse is bolted in with 10mm bolts.
