Help!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 88 rx-7 GXL ( which may or may not make a difference ) and it wont start. Here is the story, me and the wife drove to ross for her to pick out some new clothes. When I came back out the car would not start. When I tried to start it, it would have a grinding sound. I already tried to read some forums and tried to jump the car and see if it was the battery. but no luck. Its not a clicking sound its more like a grinding sound. and the battery is working fine and the car was driving fine but all of a sudden the car just did not want to start. If anyone can help me out let me know. I have to tow the car or push it cuz its like 2 miles out. but any help is wanted....

have you done the UNFLOODING PROCEDURE? Remove the INJ. fuse ( on series 4) or the EGI fuse (in a series 5) get in your car and crank the car for 10 seconds, wait a couple more seconds and try for another 10 seconds. Put the fuse back and see if it turns on.

The series 5 has anpther unflooding procedure which does not require the removal of the EGI fuse. Push the accelerator all the way to the floor and crank the car the same way as if you had removed the fuse.

Your starter might be dead. Beat it a little bit and see if it turns on.

have you replaced any fuel parts?

If it's grinding, does it feel like it's comming from under you? If it does you may need a new starter and if you keep trying you may take out teeth on your flywheel and yeah no fun lol

I havent changed out any fuel parts. I just had the clutch replaced like about a month ago though. But since Im new to this vehicle and only had it for like 4 months. I noticed that when I started it, it had about a 2-3 second hesitation before the car started. I thought it was maybe normal. But regardless I went to buy a new starter and it comes tomorrow. So I will see if that is the problem. HOPE TO GOD IT IS! thanks guys you been helpful
