Help
while driving down the road , the car is at normal operating temp im not driving it hard or anything, all of the sudden i here like a pop and i see smoke looks like exiting the ex. Several seconds later the add coolant alarm goes off, i pull in to the local gas station and steem starts billowing out of the engine bay/scoop. It looked like the smoke from the ex. had stoped. The temp remains on the cool side and i kill the engine. I couldnt find a busted hose or anysigns off holes, exc.
THe radiator was cool to the touch, but the big line looks like running to the engine is pretty hot. The coolant level was way down being that most of it was driping onto the ground off the car, it looked like it had been coming from the right side. I was forced to take the car to alocal shop were the guy said they were rotary speciallized,(but i dont beleive him) i told them if it was just a house to replace it and dont touch if its even possibly anything else. Did i do the right thing?
COuld it be anything really serious? Am i a dumbass for sending it to the local place and not the mazda dealership were they have 5 rotary only mechanics?
IM WORRIED THAT THE PROBLEM IS DEEPER THAN JUST A HOSE. INPUT PLEASE
also the car has been having a hesitation when going into boost for about three weeks now but if i drive for ten plus minutes it goes away but still seems sluggish and rather slow but out of boost seems to run fine. What could be wrong with this? Would a clogged cat possibly cause the hesitation? Im still relativly new to rotarys but so im still learning and the help is greatly appreciated .
thanks

are you sure that your temp guage is working? a radiator thats cool to the touch sounds like a faulty thermostat. i would also get a new radiator cap just cause they go bad all the time causing your cooling system pressure to go down.
