heating up... temp guage

I had some autometer gauges installed and so i have a pretty accurate reading for my temp in the engine. WHen I go up hills now I find it is climbing to 225 and when I am downhill it goes down to 195 but for most driving it is around 210. It has gotten higher averages over the summer.

Any ideas?

1987 rx7 NA, 120,000 miles, new dynomax complete exhaust, orig radiator.

Rad?
Water pump?
Thermostat?

Hmm

Change the thermostat with an OEM one and see if you can get any bubbles that might be in the cooling system out. Check your fan clutch. Have you noticed any leaks or loss of coolant at all? If the water pump goes bad it lets you know by "weaping" out the front of it. With the original radiator I would look into replacing that whether its the problem or not.

no leaks from rad

I do get a bit of oil on the floor but not enough to be concerned.

i will change the thermostat and let you know...
It is not warm up here in Vancouver, BC compared to other areas.. 70-75 degrees during the summer here.
