Unhappy heater hose blown**help!!!!

Quick story- I tried an e-fan setup, but it didn't work because I needed a shroud. I went back to stock fan setup, reinstalled stock shroud, but overheated today and blew heater hose under oil filter. I pulled over quick and was towed home by AAA.

Did I damage my engine?
How can I tell?
How Do I replace hose and make engine serviceable again?
Why did I overheat?
Fan Clutch bad?
Why didn't it overheat during my ride going but it did coming back?

1. how badly did you overheat it? did it hit the red zone on the temp gauge and for how long?

2. it's a hose, order a new one from the dealer or mazdatrix and put it on.

3. the hose may have formed a small hole before going out? what condition is your cooling system? maybe it clogged and that hose was the weakest link.

4. theres info elsewhere about checking the clutch fan you'll have to search for it

Tha car never did redline. The cooling system is all stock. I have owned the car for 8 years and never flushed it. How is it properly done?
