HEAT warning light
Dear all,
I'm getting the "HEAT" warning light comming on and off while driving. What is this light about?
The standard temperature gauge in the instrument cluster is working and showing that the engine is 'cool' at about 1/5 th of the scale - doesn't even come close to the middle! I have checked coolant, oils, etc - all OK.
Could it be faulty electronics causing the light to go on? It can happen even just a few minutes after engine has been idling when I started up - there's no way it can get dangerously hot just after such a short time.
BTW, I have aftermarket HKS air filter, exhaust and blowoff valve if this helps. Otherwise the engine is stock standard and runs extremely well :-)
Cheers,
DrEvil

The cat converter is overheating.
There is a floor sensor right above where the cat goes. If it "see's" too high of a temp it will trigger the heat light.

Looks like it could be the exhaust setup.
I have SINGLE outlet mega exhaust - piping must have been 3" at least and the tip is the 4 3/4" HKS Super Drager.
The car sits very low - only 6" above ground. Thist must also be contributing to the heat underneath the vehicle.
BTW, it's all street legal (barely).
So, if it's a sensor I don't need to worry - right?

well, if it is activating then there is the possibility of the floor and carpeting getting burnt...
You need to fix your heat shields if you don't have a cat anymore.
