Heat around Transmission, Normal?

Heat around Transmission, Normal?

Hey I'm just wondering if its normal to have heaps of heat around the Transmission stick? or am I just being paranoid haha
any help would be great thanks

Pull the boot and the plastic surround out, I'd bet your insulation is missing. It looks like sheepskin kinda stuff.

on a warm day with the engine at normal temp, yeah, its nice and toasty. I know cause I did the auto to manual swap and I don't have any thing surround the stick. I can look through and see the tail end of the tranny and the exhaust presilencer. I get less air flowing up into the car if I keep the sunroof closed.

Ditto... but I like to keep the sunroof open. It helps me melt the marshmallows for my s'mores quicker.

i got the jute or whatever it is in mine still and heat still blows out so i would say its normal

or, you might have an exahust leak near the manifold. I had that problem with the shifter surround getting really hot, and it was simply from an exhaust leak. After i replaced the exhaust gaskets, and made sure they were tight, the extreme heat around the shifter and surround went away
