GA headlights will not RE-tract

hey guys.... So i think i have a electrical problem. My car got flooded about 4 months ago, so i was in the rut of jumping it off ALOT. WELL, in one session of essesive jumper cable deployment, i was stupid and hooked the cables backwards, and the headlights went UP & DOWN. When I relized what i did i quickly took them off. After I took them off and hooked the cables up right, the headlights went UP. SO, intern, i blew some fuses. Well i replaced all the ones that were blown, INCLUDING the retractor fuse. When I went to RE-tract the headlights they didn't move. *KEY PONIT* the motors seem to be working, becuz the little friendly white knobbs at the bottem (you know, the ones that will scare the crap out of you when you counter turn them?) still have power. I have been trying to find a scematic to help but if its something siple, then i wanna try that first.

so any ideas????

thanks,

I take it when you turn the ***** at the bottom of the motor, and the assy starts to come down, that the motor drives them right back up. So the retract fuse is good then.

So there's two things that could cause your problem. Above the headlight switch/****, there is another **** just above it that can cause the assy's to come up go down. Make sure it is not the problem. Just turn it one way and then the other to see if the assy drive down/up.

So say it's not that switch. The I'd suspect the relay inside the headlight switch. Prove it is the problem. PUll the plug off the headlight switch. Strip a piece of wire at both ends to use as a jumper wire.

Jumper b/t the RED wire and the RED/YELLOW wires in the plug. Assy's should retract. If that happens, then the switch/relay inside it, is kaput imho.

Wiring diagrams are free for a download on this site for the series five/four. That's where these attached jpg came from.

Oh. The headlight fuse must be good for the switch to work. That's where the power from the red wire comes from. If the headlights come on, then that fuse is good without having to look at the fuse.
