good afternoon. i had zenon HID's in my car and had water damage causing the headlights to short. i put the stock bulbs back in then the headlights would stay on all the time unless i pulled out the relay. then took out my switch to find the joint were toasted. replaced the switch and also the relay and problem still exists. a buddy of mine said that it would be best to find power coming out of the switch and re-create my headlight harness. of course we all know this is a **** ton of a work so i am wondering if this problem has happend to anyone els or if anyone knows what els i should be testing.... please throw out any ideas....

im tired of my safety inspection being 08-10 and hate not driving her especially with the cold weather. sucks going to start her up on occassion and not being able to drive anywhere.

Of the four wires running to the headlight relay one of these wires would be the White/Blue wire. If there is a ground signal on this wire then the lights will turn on. If the wire in question has voltage on it then the lights will turn off. Your White/Blue wire must have a ground on it. One way to prove it is if you jumper a wire into the back of the relay plug where the White/Blue wire is and the other jumper end is touched to the positive battery terminal then the lights should go off. It seems like this is your problem and if this is your problem then your problem is a function of the wiring from the switch to the relay and or the switch itself.

The switch does NOT output power to the headlight relay. It outputs a GROUND to the headlight relay and THAT gnd is what causes the headlight relay to pull in and power up the headlights. The coil of the headlight relay has power on it 24/7 and is just waiting for the gnd signal from the switch.

I know you said you replaced the relay but check them with an ohm-meter. If the main contacts get too hot they can weld themselves together creating an "always on" condition. Easy to eliminate with a continuity check.

Yeah the relay will click vigorously. Actually I think the dimmer relay if I'm not mistaken located next to it will click constantly until the headlight relay Is disconnected
