headlight wiring

ok I understand there is a way to wire the headlights so it doesn't go from the battery to the headlight switch and so on down the chain
but rather so when you flip the headlight switch the headlights draw power straight from the battery

how hard is it to do this?

what parts would I need and how would I do it?

how reliable is this setup?

and does it really make the lights a little brighter like I have heard some ppl say?

Check how much voltage you are getting at your headlights before you wire them straight together. Your prolly getting 11 volts or so... If you remove the fuse you can cause some problems so... Its up to you!

Look at the headlight wiring diagram. The headlights are already fed directly from the battery via the 30A HEAD fuse, headlight relay and dimmer relay. The headlight switch only activates those relays.

If you want to reduce the voltage drop between the battery and the headlights there are two ways you can do it. You can add extra wires in parallel with the stock ones, making the connections at the fuse, relay and headlight plugs. Or you can run a whole new circuit from the battery, but you'd need another fuse and two more relays (one to turn them on, one to switch between low- and high-beam). You'd mimic the stock system, using the stock wires to trigger the two relays.
