headlight switch headache

ok so a couple weeks ago i replaced my headlight switch. Before I plugged it in I noticed that one of the metal plugs on the harness was fried....I plugged the switch in anyway and checked the tail lights. They worked so I went about my business and didn't worry about the fried harness since everything seemed to be ok. Then last night my gauge lights weren't working again...bad sign. I checked the tail lights and they weren't working either. I have a feeling the harness is the problem and I hope it is, but is there a possibility that there could be some other kind of electrical problem coming from somewhere??

You must replace the light switch harness as well as the light switch if either has fried. If you don't you will continue to burn through switches.

yeah that's what i was afraid of....the switch was a pain install and the harness looks even tougher....can i pull out the old harness underneath the dash or do I have to pull off the face of the dash to get to it?

And also....will a wiring harness for an s4 even work on my s5?

The harness is about 20 inches long, and plugs into the blue plug next too the power steering computer.

No... you must use the same series light switch harness as the turn signal switch. So if you have a S5 turn signal switch (and gauge surround) you must use a S5 light switch harness.

Thanks for the help Iceman. I bought the Haynes repair manual and it's pretty specific, exept for what I need to get done. Every time.
