headlight problem
headlight problem
So this has prolly been discussed already...but my frickn headlights won't go down. Retractor fuse is fine and I replaced the others cus I was a weetard and hook the batt cables up bacwards and fried the fuses...so seeing as how the fuses have been replaced already, does that mean a more serious prob? Let me know guys thx.
Probably scrogged the diode in the headlight switch itself. Just a guess and nothing more or less. Never had that problem. Of course SOMEONE is also going to ask if you know about the other switch on the surround that can make the headlight stay up. But you know about it already, so....
EDIT: OPPS. No diode. Thought there was one. The RETRACTOR fuse powers the retractor motors but the retractor motors are Controlled by the HEADLIGHT fuse thru the switches inside the headlight switch assy. See jpg attached.
Since everybody knows about the Headlight Retractor Switch in the headlight switch assy, and you don't have that switch in the permanent UP positon but have it in the Down positoin......what you could do is pull the elect plug off the headlight switch. Then with a jumper wire, jumper b/t the Red wire and the R/Y wire. Key does not have to be in the car. The retractor mtrs should go down. IF they do, the headlight switch is kaput imho.

I tried to jump start my vert when it sat for like a year, it started up fine then the next time I went to jump start it the thing would not start.
The battery had a dead short in it, I blew the main fuse and very oddly enough both headlights?
And I had the cables hooked up right, odd things happen when you reverse the cables. I gave my old neighboor a jump start and took it for granted he would hook the cables right on his car while I did my jeep but he reversed them. A few days later my headlight switch was bad, my multi-function switch went bad on the steering column, and my battery REVERSED itself!

Another possibility: the headlight motors ground to their own cases. These get rusty and dirty. Pull them and clean up the connecters if you want to be thorough. I've had to do it on 2 of my past 7s...
