I kinda doub the switch is the problem. Here's why: when you turn the switch to On, all you do is put a GROUND on a wire in the electrical plug on that switch, and that ground goes to the front of the car to the HEADLIGHT RELAY.

That causes the headlight relay to pull in and the lights to come on. Power for the headlights is not from the switch. It is always at the relay ready to be used IF a ground signal comes from the headlight switch to pull the relay in and pass power to the headlights.

The above does no describe the headlight retraction part of the deal. Only the lights coming on or not.

You can prove the swtich being bad or not by pulling the elect plug off the headlight switch. Then if it's a series four car, jumper a wire b/t ground and the R/W wire in the plug. OR jumper b/t the R/W and the pure black wire in the connector. LIght should come on. LIght assy will NOT come up doing this. ONly lights come on doing this.

If the lights don't come on doing this, and the HEAD relay is good in the engine bay, then other things are wrong other than the switch.
