have an important hose question with *pics*

I just wanted to know if anyone knew where this hose, coming from the top of the block to the bottom of the upper intake manifold, is actually supposed to go? another forum member described this as being in the wrong place causing my current leakage of coolant going through the block.

So if anyone can tell me where this connection is supposed to go, I would appreciate it. since I have a bad leak and don't know what is causing it. hopefully this is wrong i guess.

come on now... 7 threads on the same topic? Did you try the FSM? there are links to it in the FAQ at the top of this section. It looks the same as both of my S4's.

so, FSM it is then.

http://www.teamfc3s.org/main/factory...ING_SYSTEM.pdf

Page 3-3(or page 4 in the PDF) is a coolant flow chart for S4 turbo models. it doesn't actually show the hose but it does show the flow of coolant as an arrow coming out of the outlet onh the top left of the rear iron and going in under the uim. So, Id say your hose is correct.

alright thanks for the help. i just really couldn't trace the end of the line. it looks like it's going all the way to the turbo to me.

although if this isn't the problem then I don't know why my coolant keeps getting flooded int he chamber

Ok so, what do you mean, getting flooded into the chamber? Give us some more detail, maybe some more pictures, and we can diagnose the problem.

Actually... I think his hose is where the other arrow is but, you get the basic idea.

define "in the chamber." I hope you don't mean in the combustion chamber.

yea. actually I do mean the combustion chamber. and I don't know which line is letting it go directly in there. because i pulled out the turbo manifold, and had the upper and lower intake manifold disconnected, with all the lines still on though, and i cranked it, but water kept coming out and out of the exhaust as i kept cranking it. so what do you guys think?

and with that upgraded diagram? that first hose is still in the correct spot right?

yep... hoses are fine.

There's only two ways I can think of to get coolant into the combustion chamber...

You either:

A: Are leaking coolant into the intake somehow

OR

B: Blew a coolant seal.

I'm guessing since you had the intake manifolds off when you were test cranking that you have probably blown a seal and it's rebuild time.

Edit* I just had a thought that there could be a possibility of leaking from the turbo into the exhaust manifold if you blow a seal in the turbo? I'm not familiar with the turbo design so I'm not real sure. Err... scratch that, you said you removed the turbo manifold which I assume means the turbo was removed with it. So, again looks like a blown coolant seal and rebuild fun time

Possible leaking past the coolant o-rings on the lim, between the rotor housings and the intake manifold where the coolant ports are there are orings sealing off coolant passages, they fail with oil age just like anything else on a car, check those first.

awww man. I REALLY hope it's not "B" because I JUST rebuilt this engine and replaced the coolant seals 400 miles ago...................T-T.

i'll see if i can find anything else wrong with the intake manifold for now i guess

but it's giving way different symptoms than it was when i did have a blown coolant seal before the rebuild. and it's nothing like what i've read. because the overflow tank stays fine, and exhaust pressure isnt getting back into the coolant system?

i think I know what you mean. because I actually bought a new intake o-ring for what you're talking about and it still seems new. since i just rebuilt this. but there are supposed to be 2 holes? or one? because one of the coolant passages on mine seem to be blocked off. where there's a little circle in the bottom of the "lim".
