No no no, I'm positive he meant to show us the scents that you add to your gas so your exhaust smells pretty. They have tons of "flavors", but fail to have the one I want- *working catylitic smell*, to help make that "high flow cat" line more believable when pointing at the pre-silencer to the officer...

Your car shouldn't smell because of no cats.

If the exhaust is new, then they will smell for a while because it's being heated up. After a few weeks of normal driving, all the anti-corrosion spray will burn off, the exhaust will get broken in, and the smell will go away.

When I got my car I was running on no cat, but installed a high-flow pretty soon after getting the car. One thing I noticed was that the unburned fuel smell made my throat feel weird and I was very thirsty. That can't be good.

It doesn't have to smell. Cars didn't always have cats. The internal combustion engine wasn't redesigned for cats. You're running too rich at idle.

My car stinks sometimes at stoplights, ect (that sweet rotary smell). I have RP cat & DP, RP cat-back. Not as bad as a RB full with a streetported motor though. Phew!

Tune the car.

My car doesn't smell.

My son's RX-7 doesn't smell.

My engine builders RX-7s don't smell.

My friend's RX-7 doesn't smell.

My other friend's RX-7 doesn't smell.

My first six cars had no cats. They didn't smell.

You have too much fuel going in at idle.

Hey Bruce, write it so that I can understand the meaning of the combination of the words that you wrote.

Do you disagree with something that I've written in this thread? If so, please tell us.

I think he meant that you must have a problem with your sense of smell. I dunno though. I just put my DP/MP on and ditched my cats and did not notice any difference in smell.

I noticed an increase in smell after opening up my exhaust as well. The same for the '87 base I used to have. So, let's see here, either 90% of the people on here who have noticed an increase in smell need to "tune" their cars or could it be that the minority who claim to notice no smell have the problem? Interesting..........

Rotaries smell, live with it.

The minority here just happens to be the "tuners" of the rx-7 club crowd as far as I know. My car and the RB car I was talking about both stink, and they are both running rich. No fuel controller, then you get stuck with a factory rich setting.

Exactly. When I put my FB togehter, the Weber was adjusted to eye-watering rich at idle. After some adjustment, you would never know just by smell that it has no smog stuff on it.

Sucks that its so expensive to tune an EFI car, my TII smells a little bit.

Oh "tuners", I get it.....So, what qualifys a person to be a "tuner" in your opinion? Would you say that you can name all the "tuners" on this board? How do you know that a very capable tuner hasn't complained about the smell of his car in this thread? I'm not saying I'm a tuner by your terms but I'm not going to reject the possibility that someone else in the majority isn't.

I am a tuner because I can. I have a Haltech.

An Apexi S-AFC will work just fine for tuning at idle.

No special skill needed for either system for tuning at idle.

Cars with no cats do not have to be offensive.
