Has anyone made their J-Spec FTP lights brighter?
Im sure we have all seen how dim and yellowish j-spec ftp lights look and I was wondering if anyone has made them brighter by upgrading the bulbs?

J-spec FTPs have a built in 5w bulb. Heres the best picture I could find by doing a quick search:
In that picture you could see how dim they look compared to the other lights.
nathantheman, I'm not talking about U.S. ftps since those dont have any bulbs in them making it impossible to upgrade the bulb.

I was thinking of either upgrading the bulbs to a higher wattage, using some superwhite ricer bulb, or using an LED unit in there. I dont want to increase the wattage and have the bulb burn or melt something. LED lights seemed like a good idea but I would want some that light everything around them not just directly in front of them.

What style of bulb is it? A 194?
If it is, do not use a 194 LED style bulb. Perhaps a custom LED strip would be cool, but my experience with the 194 LED bulbs has left me with something to desire.

In that picture above, it looks like they just took the light out of their parking lights and put them into the FTP lenses. If you notice, their parking lights aren't on. Hmmm

I put a raybrig bulb in mine, I don't remember the size, I just took the original to a riceboy shop and they gave me what I needed, much brighter now. (same wattage)
I've seen a fabbed up North American version of the FTP Lense using a simple LED. It looked very poor. I'd Imagine their Is a reflective property at the back wall of the J-Spec FTP Lense?
Not really, there's just a diffusing lense behind the outer lense.
Personally I don't know why you guys would bother. I'd rather not lose the ability to flash my high-beams at others just for a relatively weak set of park lights.

hehe yea, lexus is a surely brighter...best I could do with 5w wedge bulbs
I tried the LED yellow wedges, heard they were more colorful but looked orange. I like the way these look at night, a little sinister IMO.

yeah....it looks just like all the other pics but brighter. Sorry, the car is about 200 miles away right now. But if you go to any parts store you'll see the smaller bulbs that came with it and some larger ones that have a bigger bulb...single filament. If you buy said bulbs, you'll quickly find out that the hole on the back of the JDM FTP is slightly too small to fit the larger bulb through the hole. Dremel the hole out just a little bit on all the edges and volla..the bulb fits. It's about as bright as you'll get without completely redoing the whole socket/lens.
