has anyone ever tryed painting their tail lights?

I dunno if this is an odd idea or if it would even work but has anyone ever thought of or got someone else to paint their tail lights with a clear coat or a transparent paint? I'm just trying to think of a way to make them a bit more shiney like the newer cars out there and thats the best I can come up with.
Any thoughts or feed back on this?

Thanks
matt

You can polish Plastic bacl to its original luster you know . . .
if your talking about the black plastic Part of the S4 Taillights, yeah i've prepped and painted that part, look brand new, its all in the prep work, use Duplicolor if you use spray paint.
Hopefully this pic will help, these taillights looked like crap before paint, oxidized and faded. If you need to bring the lenses back to life, just polish them.

Im one of the few people who like the s4 tail lights but i guess id say this since i dont have s5s hehe. anyways a guy i ran into here once at the gas station had a charcoal s4 and he had the car painted and in place of the black on the tails he had it painted to match the car so it was done like the 10th anniversaries. It looked really clean and nice.

Get some 3M plastic hand glaze, it works wonders and takes scratches out of them like a dream.

Those are some good ideas but unfortunately I have an s5 . I dunno my tail lights just look dull. I'm gonna start entering my car into shows pretty soon so I want it to look good. Like the ones on this car, they are a lot better looking than mine.
pics bad quality cuz i resized it.
