hard to start...pumping gas pedal to start.

Ok, here the deal i have a fully stock 13B engine it's an S4. Every once in a while when i crank the engine it won't start i have to pump the gas couple of time and most of the time if i have to do that i have to rev it just to keep it from stalling.

Other times, the car would start revs up by itself and then work it's way down to stalling.

I did a search i couldn't find anything similar to my problem.

Plz. help....

oh yeah one more thing. When i have another probelm, when i downshift i hear a little annoying eek sounds, sometimes it's long sometimes its pulsing, and sometimes it continues until i go near 2k rpm. only happens in 1st and 2nd gear at low rpm around 2.3k - 2.8k. I checked the belts everything is tight the way it's suppose to be. Could it be my brakes is worn out, but never heard that from worn out brakes. Plz help also.

Have you done a fuel system pressure check? Possible you have low fuel pressure due to Pump/Filter/etc...

You're not supposed to downshift into 1st gear, unless you're stopped and at idle speeds.

sounds like what my car used to do, it would bog really bad unless i give it a whole lot of gas to start it up but after about 5 or 6 k i would let off and it would be fine, just had the typical high rpm cold start syptoms and just needed to warm up after that... i hate to say it but the cause of that problem was that my waterseals were going!

the squeek noise if you can call it that, could be the driveshaft. thats how i first noticed mine, i heard squeeking on decel when engaging the clutch to slow down and it ONLY happend on decel with the clutch starting to catch... turns out it was the u-joints freezing up on me... if it is infact the driveshaft, i have a brand new one i could sell you.
