hard to start, hold idle, help plz
hard to start, hold idle, help plz
ok just to get it started, when i hold the key all the way i have to pump the gas several times then it starts. but it wont go up to 3k rpms anymore when warming up, it stays at 1k or 1.5k rpms, but then after warming up it goes down to 500 rpms and wants to drop all the way to 0 rpms thus wanting to die out.
not sure whats going on here.
when i got the car the previous owner had the timing all the way advanced (dont ask me why cuz i dunno) and it idled at 1.2k rpms after warm up, but would still die out sometimes. i have it where it should be now. also i could see where someone messed with the TPS adjustment screw ( but looks to be in the right spot) and the air adjust screw on the BAC valve (yes i took the cap off for those wise guys). also everything is stock except for a holly fuel pump and racing beat full race exaust.
thanks for your help in advance.

A few things for you-
Im assuming your 7 is fuel injected...do NOT NOT NOT pump the gas!
I would do this, in this order:
Set timing to stock specs.
Verify ZERO vacuum leaks. Replace hoses and hose clams.
Verify again.
And once more.
Replace fuel filter.
Set TPS per stock specs.
Adjust BAC valve as needed (for fine tuning.
As a side note...when starting there is no need to push down the accelerator. The exception is if it's flooded, then you would mash to the floor and go through unflood proceedure. I know this sounds like alot, but you could get it done in a day

yes, it is F.I. and i know your not supposed to pump it but i cant get it to start if i dont. also im having a hard time setting the timing because it wont hold idle so it jumps all over the place. im gonna check the vacuum hoses and fuel filter. and im not sure on how to set the TPS to stock because i dont have the checker lamp.
the only thing i know that is open is two hard lines right above the headers. they just point to the ground and have no cap or hose on them. i assume that they are vacuum lines but i didnt feel any blow or suction from them. can someone tell me what those are?
thanks for helping
