Hard motor mounts caused my coolant leak?

when I rebuilt my engine I replaced the mounts with mazdatrix delrin mounts (my old ones came off in 2 pieces!). lately I have been seeing a little coolant leak by the drivers side mount and i couldnt figure out where the coolant was coming from, until I realized that it was coming from the coolant drain plug IN the mounting bracket. I went to tighten it and it was about to fall off! all the bolts holding on both of my mounts were super loose.

has this happened to anybody? did I just not tighten them enough? should I put lock-tight on them this time?

It's amazing what will vibrate loose on the road. The solid mounts certainly contributed (ever worked on a Harley? Every damn bolt/nut needs Loctite because those things vibrate so much) but it's not a huge problem. Just reinstall the nuts with new lock washers and torque to spec. A little Blue Loctite will help as well.

I think he's referring to the engine block coolant drain plug. It's in the same spot where the mount attaches to the engine on the drivers side.

exactly. I forgot that there was a drain plug there, and I was looking around for leaky hoses for the longest time lol.

And yea, I'm gonna go through and re-tighten them with some lock-tight. i'm just surprised, it's only been 500 miles!
