I would recommend signing up on the Haltech list over at Yahoo Groups. I plan on installing one by the end of the year, and I signed up. It is a great resource for info on the Haltech and people seem very willing to help answer questions, regardless if they may sound stupid or not. The Haltech comes with a wiring harness of it's own. It does not use anything that is stock on the car IIRC.

A 3" exhaust is pretty big if you have the stock turbo. If you plan on upgrading the turbo later, then 3" is fine. The key is to maximize flow, while still having enough restriction to continue to flow of the exhaust outwards. Most if the aftermarket exhausts have done lots of testing to ensure proper sizing of their systems.

3 inches exhuast from the turbo flange back is going to give you a HUGE HP gain. I have seen a dyno sheet from a 13BT in an old rx4 running microtech injection, went from the standard type exhuast with cats etc to a 3 inch all the way thru with one muffler, and gained 68kw at the wheels.
