halfbridge and stock turbo?

Just curious if anyone is running this. I have about 1200miles on my halfbridge, and no money to upgrade the turbo. I'm running all other supporting mods, and was curious how the car will run. As of supporting mods: 880primary, 1600secondary, microtech, dual walbros, fpr, fmic, 3"rb, and a few other things I can't think of right now.

I ran the stock turbo on my aux bridge for about 600KM. It spooled like hell (I was unable to keep the car out of boost most times) but of course didn't make for a very fast car. Idle was hard to get right due to reversion...

I'm going to take Aaron's word on that one

But I'm curious.....if you've put 1200 miles on it, why don'ty you tell us how it runs.

So a half bridge is good only because it is not engaged untill the seconary butterflys open up meaning a smooth idle and good high end power. I am trying to learn all about it since when my tII needs rebuilt I can be ready for a bridge-port. It probably wont be for a while though since I have taken excellent care of it. !50,000miles and running perfect.

Note quite. Because exhaust still wraps around into the intake runner through the eyebrow, you still have the characteristics of a bridgeport (wicked idle, etc.).

A few more details about the stock turbo. Revving the engine at idle using low throttle would produce several pounds of boost. Simply bringing the RPMs up while driving (ie. around 15-20% throttle but around 3500RPM and higher) would spool the turbo quickly and produce several pounds of boost. Diriving in 5th gear on the highway at around 100KM/H would have the turbo hovering around 2-3 PSI.
