Hack job Wiring Woes...
So I was just under my car, about to connect the starter wiring and do some other little goodies, when one of the battery cables going to the starter didn't reach. No biggie, right? Well upon closer inspection this wire was actually two wires crimped together and taped up inside the rest of the harness. Now having since removed my a/c and P/s and all emissions, and basically going bare block and not using the stock ECU, I took out the driver's side harness/transmission harness and all battery cables and all that. All of it is covered in grease and oil, by the way. Now my headlight and turn signal wiring is hacked up as well, with random wires going to nothing and relays not bolted down, wiring for aftermarket lights that were no longer there and stuff like that. I've basically gotten fed up with it and decided to rip it all out and start over again.
Have any of you done this before? Basically rewired the entire front end of the car. I shouldn't have to touch too much, if anything on the engine (it's been Haltech'd) but I'm just curious how much of a pain in the *** you more experienced guys think it will be, or if it will just be a huge time consuming job. Following each wire by wire per the FSM/ Haynes wiring diagram's. I feel confident I could do it as long as I took my time (ASE Cert. Electrical) but I just wanted some input from anyone who has done it.
The tranny is also something I'm a little bit worried about, too. It is a J-spec S5 TII trann, and I've read that they don't have a 5th gear/reverse switch...
The chassis is an S4 NA.
Thanks in advance.

Having once owing an auto electrical shop, I can advise you that unless you are an electrical technition, you are tackeling one hell of a job. It would be easier to get a used harness off a wreck, and start from there.
