what is the difference between gutting the 2 pre cats on my 87 n/a, and replacing them with a pipe?, are there dangers??, or am i paranoid

 

A pipe will give better hp, because the gutting actually causes turbulence. But it will add a few hp. I recommend getting a header and presilecer but untill you can afford the $400 for the parts from Racing Beat, just gut em. Hell I did all three! But my header and presilencer will be unsatlled this weekend!!
