Question GTUs selling price?

I'm considering either selling my 1990 GTUs or putting it in storage to keep long term (although it is pretty long term already). I bought it new and don't really want to sell it, but I have four other cars and too much insurance and license expense. Question- average retail for the 90 GTUs is about $4500 on the open market. In the specialty/ enthusiast market it might be higher. How much did you pay for your GTUs and when did you buy it?

Yo,

Ron, bite your tongue!! You will not sell your car! What are you thinking?!

I'll give ya $4500 for it.

*grin*

Seriously though, I spent $5800 on mine 3 years ago, it's depreciated. Regardless of how rare the cars are, even 10th AE's, everything is in the toilet these days. I work in the auto industry, and everything is sucking big time. I'd hold onto it just because now is the absolute worst time to try and sell it.

My 2 bits.

If miles are below 50,000, I would venture to guess that you could ask $6000-7000 in an enthusiast market. Remember, RX-7s and especially the rarer ones (10th Anny, GSL-SE, S5 TII and GTUs) have prices that defy the KBB values.

It is a 90, so there are less than 100 of those babies on the road. I agree with RarestRX, hold out for a bit. In fact hold out til December or January, cause I want to buy your car!

Kevin- I think you are right. Even in NC the used car market seems to be really low. My real problem is storage space. I have plenty of space on the farm, but every building has other crap in it. I may have to buy one of those pre-fab metal carports and park the car in its car cover in there. It was in my garage with the FD, but I just got a new 525i and hate to leave that car out in the NC broiling hot sun, so the FC got evicted and is out with my truck and horse trailer. Guess I should just build a warehouse or something.

Yo,

Ron, do you have CostCo's out there where you live? I saw nice tent-type car port thingies for a few hundred bucks. Enclosed sides, enclosed front, basically a tent for your car. Put it in there, put on a nice car cover and you should be good.

I would not sell right now...the market is horrible.

DONT sell it to ANYONE who will not take care of it. If i had one, i wouldnt even drive it probably for fear some old lady will hit me. Keep it, or sell it to someone on the list who will baby it (rarestRX will def. take care of it)

I probably will store the thing for a while. Kevin- they have those carport type things here, also in metal. Just put four new Bridgestone S-03 PP on it and two new four-piston brake calipers ($370 each. ouch!). Maybe I can start to really detail and polish the under-hood components and get it show-worthy. Paint still looks good, except for some stone chips, mainly being garaged all the time. It would be hard to get enough to make it worth selling. Interior is still good, except for the friggin white dog hair on the black corduroy seats. (wife drove the car ...big mistake. She put more wear and tear on the car in a month than I did in 10 years).

Totally.

I let my wife drive my car, and she completly blew up my clutch by slip clutching up a hill. When I pulled the tranny, there was zero material on the clutch disc, the flywheel was deep blue from the heat, and the bell housing was coated in black dust that didn't simply pour out.

So, I got an Auto Vert as a second car. There, problem solved.
