**edit**

It is very rare that this occurs from what I hear...
Ah, yeah... okay

A lot of people claim something, almost none can prove it.

Hell, half the people driving RX-7 SE models think they have LSDs just because they can break both rear wheels loose at the same time. Must have an LSD if they can break both rear tires loose right???

Nope, just poor traction.

But then they tell their buddy they have a LSD... next thing you know, someone posts that hey my buddy has a SE with a LSD... and people believe it.

That is how bogus LSD or other options show up 99% of the time.

No sunroof in my '88 GTU! You can come by and look if you want.

We got discussing options becuase I was interested in what the original sheet for my car would look like. Didn't happen to notice the model code, but it did say with sport package on the model line. Is it possible the dealer could've manipulated options upon request to mix/match a model?
so you're saying the same dealer that doesnt know what a limited slip is, is going to go to all the trouble to order one from japan special?

as far as i know, you cant order cars like that from mazda, if the equipments not on the list its not available.
i still have not seen the factory make a mistake and make a car that didnt fit the model sticker.

the fact that these cars were popular, and its easy to swap stuff means a lot of stuff is/was swapped. plus these cars were stolen and stripped and stuff.

My '88 GTU has no sunroof, and no rear wiper.

[whoops, I kinda forgot about this thread for a few weeks]

Someone mentioned something about the "new, S5 engine". Were there any differences between the engine of the '88 GTU and the engine of the '89 S5?

GTU!! I just bought an 88 with an engine fire. I love it, she is a little burnt but it will be sweet. GTU= Turbo interior, but that doesn't mean it's blan. It has most options, power metal moonroof (LOVE IT) crank windows, AC, cruise, spoiler, and LSD. I looked on the drain plug on the rear end, it has an aluminum LSD tag on it. This is my 3rd 2nd gen I've owned. First was a sport w/o LSD, and 2nd was a GXL with LSD and it had the same LSD tag on it. There is always going to be aftermarket upgrades done to these things because they are such a sought after car.

i own an 89 gtus and it has no power windows, no power locks, no rear wiper, no sun roof, no cruise control, and it has 4.33 gears, and it has a lighter hood than the standard s5. this car is all stock.

no extra electric motors = less weight

less weight + lower gears = better acceleration

thus a more desirable car in the s5 category
