GTU 87' have 4 lug wheels?
GTU 87' have 4 lug wheels?
I have a 87' and there is a sticker on the side that says GTU. Someone told me its not an actual GTU. They said a GTU is a turbo without the turbo. Has to be 5 lug wheels and turbo brakes and other things the turbo model has without the actual turbo.
If its not, feel like taken a hair drier and taken off the stickers.

No such thing as a 87 GTU. They were all built 7/87 or later as 88 model years. Looking at the VINs they will be (last digits) 600001 and higher and have "J" in the 10th spot.
The 88 GTU was basicly a T2 without the T2 drive train. Same seats, same steering, same suspension and brakes. It also came with the wheels, LSD and the better carpet from the GXL. The high arm rest was also standard as was the lower body aero kit and spoiler.
The 87 model equivent was the Sport (or sometimes called the GS).
Neither had the 4 lug wheels which were reserved for the SE, 86 Luxury and series 4 Base models
