Ground Wire???

I have just put a manual gearbox in my 7 and it has a black wire attached to the top of the bell housing, it has been cut and im really unsure wear it goes.

I have checked the FAQ's and the FSM, bit confused.

I thought it could be a ground wire?

Cheers

Yes, that is a ground to the firewall.

Helps reduce static electrical charges in the driveline, as well as provides a back up ground for the engine.

What is on the other end of the wire? A small black box? If so, then that's the condensor for the oil pressure sender. There should be a wire in the harness around the slave cylinder area that matches up. CHeck the FSM for the proper wire colour.

Good point...

Small gauge wire: coming off a condensor is the oil pressure gauges senders condensor, and does not ground but rather "T"s into the oil pressure gauge wire.

Large gauge wire: Ground

there is a large ground that is connected tot eh rats nest near the fuel filter, but its a black and white wire. I always though black and YELLOW was ground, and black and white was 12v

Black/white and Black/Yellow are never ground except on the main battery wire
