Ground problem I think????

My car didn't start today... Something clicks but no crank when I turn the key. I played with the battery terminals.... nothing. I unhooked any power draining stuff.. still no luck. I did replace my old battery terminals a while ago and I think that might be it but can't check until tomorrow. When I hit my brakes with the key to acc the lights dim. Any help is appreciated.

did u make suer u tightened the wires into the *** of the terminals tight enough?? try cleaning the wires and terminal posts and inside f the terminals.. make sure the wires are tight n secure into the terminals n try again.. if that doesnt work id be checking the voltage to see if it could be the battery is old and or dead

Ok retightened the wires to my battery terminals... fine. Still won't start, and the battery is drained below 12v now. So I push started it (such a bitch because of no power steering)... Got it running let it run for a few minutes and turned it off to see if it would start... nope. So does this mean my battery is done, I figure it is since it is pretty old. Help is much appreciated.

Your problem lies in your starter. My brothers went out a few weeks ago so its still fresh on my mind as to the symptoms, and what youve described is about right to what we experienced.

Sounds like the battery to me, there should be major shops near you that do free battery load testing, but if it's less than 12v without there even being a load on the battery something is wrong (they're usually ~12.8V) Try boosting it off another car if that works it's the battery.

Thanks gsully I did that after I read FirstRotary's post. It was the battery and not the starter so good for me. I got a new battery from Kragen and everything is good now. Thanks for all the help guys.
