sounds like a cunning plan - i like your way of thinking

i would like to go FMIC eventually - but i want to keep the P/S and A/C - so looks like it could be a lot of work

and at the end of the day - its on a auto - would i see a huge benefit from a FMIC

i have a company at the mo getting me prices for a TMIC upgrade ( like the ARC one ) - so this could be a good interim measure ( depending on cost of course )

so what we are saying is that the elbow cannot be used with the STOCK TMIC ???

turbo auto ... whaaaaaaaaaaaaaa? oh your overseas lol ... i dont believe it can be used with tmic.

just do fmic .. youll be happy.

and the trans has nothing to do with the benefit. you may not see as much horsepower gain regardless of modification ... but the intercooler is more to keep your engine running "cool" ... not necessarilly add hp

yeah i can appreciate the temp thing !!

and yeah its a JDM Auto TII - which is supposed to be rare in the USA ???

its a stock car to be honest - so needs some tweaking yet

the elbow has come about due to some random ebay buying - they are pretty rare in the UK - so i had to have it !!

im just not sure what direction to take with the car - but the FMIC is supposed to be a early upgrade ( after the exhaust )

i see that you have a TII vert - but mine is a stock S5 TII Vert

wow an s5 automatic Turbo vert. that is unheard of in the US. i didnt even know that was ever made anywhere.

but yes you will be happier with a FMIC. i just recently did mine and im very happy with it. except i need a new front bumper to make it look better.

yeah its a JDM car - still trying to work out if its a special edition - as its a dark green/blue/black colour ( hard to explain ) and its got a full tan leather interior ( seats and door cards )

the fmic is the way forward - but it seems a big job - and i dont fancy taking the car apart at this moment intime

here are some pics of the car

might have to do a manual conversion - as the auto is a bit - you cant come out of road ends sideways leaving 4mm of rubber on the road

i had a manual coupe that had been slightly modded - so just need to get the cab to the same point

I hear the verts(some of them) have the mounting brackets for the auto and manual transmission, so if you do, it should be a fairly easy swap.

i need to have a read up and see what i need - a friend is breaking a S5 coupe with a manual box - so i need to go up armed with a list of what i need

1 - gearbox
2 - fly wheel
3 - clutch
4 - pedal box
5 - clutch master clyinder
6 - not sure if i need the prop or not
7 - gear stick surround
8 - gear box mount
9 - not sure if i need the starter motor or not

will have a search now and see what i have missed off the list

and then need to find a way of fooling it so that it starts when not in P

Whats the chassis date? Was a run of 1500(?) verts made for japan for 1992 following the introduction of the FD. The one's I've seen are all the same colour scheme as yours. From I've been able to tell my 89 vert was auto before being converted to a manual in japan long before I got it.

A greddy elbow Will not work with a standard top mount, unless you make a custom pipe to connect to it with. Even connecting it to an arc top mount requires a custom one aswell (Well 2 90 degree bends at right angles..)

The arc unit, while it will never provide as cool intake temps as a front mount is a definite improvement over stock..

Wow.. Thats a bad *** car!

Anyways.. If you get an old school HKS FMIC kit, it runs both piping out of the passenger side so you can keep your battery in the same location, your A/C, and your P/S. Here in the states people usually sell them for 350-450. Keep an eye out for one. It would do your application good. Its what I got on my vert

thanks for the comments and the information

i will keep my eyes open for whats out there - only prob with buying stuff from this forum is the shipping costs to the UK - it can double the price of items sometimes

i think the UK is the most expensive for FC parts - in AUS and the USA there are sooo many cheap parts available

i once saw a chap on here "giving" away the rear louvers for the FC - i have NEVER seen these in the UK and would be worth a FORTUNE - i just couldnt get it shipped from him to me

Frank702 - thats a nice car - cant work out what front end it is though ????

and how can both IC pipes go from the same side ?? - it must cross the engine at one point ( and passenger side .... so on the UK car - thats the side of the spark plugs )

and is there a way to tell the difference ??

i have already bought the thing - just waiting for it to arrive - just having a bit of a panic

Grinder : Franks front end is an Amemiya fc2000 (or replica) front bar (same as I've got).

The elbows are the same so don't worry =)

The ic's that "cross" the engine look like this..

As for getting parts cheaper, give me a pm if you like and I'll be able to help you =)
