The hks super sequential has a lot higher pitch release compared to the type s. I hear that the type r and rs sound like crap, but I'm not sure if thats true.

I like it because it was able to vent 17 PSI effortlessly.

Are you talking about the tube that lets air get to the BOV?

The type S gives me a headache. But I dunno I would never buy one based on sound, just be happy if the one I got did not give me a headache. The SSQV is able to change sounds, you can use different springs and covers allowing it to change sounds.

The only one I like so far is the RS or recirculating. MARTIN posted a sound clip of his FC runing on a S and I posted one of mine on a RS.

i have a Type S...

i love the way it makes different sounds...depending on how u let the throttle off...... slowly, and it makes a longer sound, and quickly makes a much more whistling sound.... and also under full boost a really loud quick sound.

I have a Type-S kit.
I dunno how people can call it annoying.
I *hate* the HKS units.

Any adjustable spring BOV can sound completely different according to how it's adjusted... On the Type-S (I've had two) if you have it *tight* it gets the 'hard, airy, psshh'.

If you have it *soft*, it has the 'light, slide whistle' noise. lol

I'm down with the Type-S, simply because it's a proven, quality unit.

Also, I still haven't gotten over how cool a vented BOV sounds... It makes driving a turbo car that much more enjoyable.

Umm.. When I was at NOPI, some of the big dogs were running that valve up to 25 PSI. IMHO its probably one of the best valves for the money.

I"m running an older style HKS sqv, not ssqv. Makes a nice quiet sound under low boost, but a little loud for my liking under WOT. My friend was driving behind me, about 100+ft, I got on it all the way, and he heard my blowoff valve over everything once I let off, and my exhaust is pretty loud.

I have the Type S and I hate the sound of it. If I run it soft it whistles incessantly if I run it too hard it choo choo choos w/ surge at lower boost. The car boosts so easily its always chattering away in some form.

I put it soft w/ a filter over it and it helped quiet the whistle. I ported out the housing and flaired the end- hopefully that helps quiet it down...

I liked how the stock BOV sounded on my stock turbo open air vented w/ a flair on the end and a checkvalve- sounded like air being pushed out.

If you want a subtle but beautiful sounding BOV, try the Apex'i twin chamber BOV. I have used that one myself personally on a stock turbo 8psi application.
