Massive. All you need to know. A lot of cutting involved on the bumper, as well as removal of foglights, bumper reinforcement, cutting of engine bay, relocation of a couple small things, etc.
Damn nice kit though, makes a big difference in intake temp.
It's about 36" tank to tank, and about 16" tall.

Hmmmm this is disheartening cause the rx-7 store says its a bolt on kit.........
What I want to do is get an intercooler that will fit across the front and have the endtanks be in the same position as in the pics of the greddy on on RX-7 Store.com, but fabrocate my own piping cause i have access to a mandrel bender!!!!
Does anybody know the dimensions of what size will fit without cutting the hell out of the bumper???

do all GReddy IC kits require the removal of the bumper reinforcement? isn't this rather unsafe? I'd expect GReddy to make more user friendly parts. I know they have more than 1 kit for the FC, is this just for the larger one?

Also... the stock position SUCKS because the IC basically becomes a heatsink when you are sittin still, like at the track getting ready to launch...

You do not have to remove the bumper reinforcement to install the Greddy V-spec. Maybe this do not apply for the US models because their bumper reinfocements are different than the j-spec and uk spec FCs. You have to trim them a little bit and you can install both. I had the instructions for the Greddy V-spec somewhere that used to show step by step the whole installation procedure but I can not find them right now.

Don't have to remove the bumper huh? Trim a little, huh? Riiight. There is ABSOLUTELY no way the new v-spec core will fit on an FC (at least the US spec, and I dont see how a e- or j-spec model could have that much difference to the chassis itself) without removing it or cutting out 75% of it. In fact, the core mounts up against both frame rail ends, which is what the support bolts to.
Perhaps you're thinking of a different kit?
I can supply pics if you need visual illustration. I'd like to see pics of a kit installed with the trim still there.

jreynish. I have the japanese instructions (from greddy/trust) for the vspec kit. IT clearly shows removal of the bumper cover, bumper reinforcement, cutting a little off the frame rails, and trimming the inside of the bumper cover. This is in adobe .pdf format. I do not know how to get photos off of this format and post here, but if someone else does I will gladly send them the instructions so they can do that part of it, then i will explain what is what. All the instructions are in japanese, but the photos are very clear and it is really simple to see. There is no way the bumper support could stay.

I have to find the instructions I guess... And I know what the V-spec IC looks like. I might not post in the forums a lot but I am not a newbie at all. I am in the RX7 forums reading them daily probably since 96 when I was living in the US. I know it will be better to remove the bumper reinforcement but if I remember well it could be done but not with a US one maybe. I used to have a US spec 87 TII when I was in Tucson and I know the US bumper reinforcement on my RX7 there, was a little different that the one I have now. It was heavier and thicker.

Greddy VSPEC + a bumper reinforcement.
Mariah Motorsports has developed a modified bumper support that they use and have had very good results from it. Basically they cut off each end and then mount two steel tubes to them so you have two fiberglass ends and then steel tubing that goes in front of the core. They are very confident in it's structural integrity/rigidity.
