Greddy FMIC Kit

How many here have used the kit/or have it? What are the results with it? Does it work with PS (like will the piping clear all that) or is it for FC's with no PS and all that. I am thinking to buy the kit, because i am looking at the cost of a IC separately, getting the piping, the couplers, then the welding, the bending, and all that, and it may be smarter for me just to put bout 2-3 hundred more to have a better setup thats specifically for the FC.

I run the greddy r spec on my fc i got no ps so i cant comment on that but its a good kit for sure. Dont go the ebay route spend a little more and get some quality. I have noticed a little higher coolent temps, not to bad really.

I have it, but i chose to take out the power steering. I think somebody did the install and just "squeezed" one of the pipes a little to clear the p/s. Do a search, it should turn up.

on the s4 you cannot run the ps with the FMIC unless you compress the pip in a vice or something. better yet remove the ac, and route it under the ps where the ac would go.. Im actually in the process of trying to re install my ps where the ac was to begin with .

i have my AC removed, but i DO have my PS. i guess i can work with that.. anyone know of any retailers that carry the Greddy kit? i am thinking thats teh best way to go, rather then piecing together my own FMIC setup and getting all the work done, this way i can actually maybe even do it myself!

With all the new ebay piping kits I would prolly get a kit like that and try to run pipes for that and see if you can get it to fit any better. This would prolly save you some money also. I normally wouldn't recommend ebay kits, but the piping kits I've seen lately are bead rolled ends and actually come with silicon couplers. Not bad if you ask me.

i gto mine from www.rx7store.net always happy with their service. Im sure plenty of other places sell it too, and it would be a lot cheaper to piece it together youself. Are you aware the kit is about 1 grand?

yyeah i am aware that is a bout 1000.

but from what i priced out to get it done the way i WANT to get it done it would be about 800. so another 200 and i get something professionally done and tested.

I have the greddy R kit on my FC. I have my power steering and ac on the car still with the battery in the original location. Some cutting of the pipes was needed to get it to clear everything. Pictures follow.

excellent intercooler.

Wow, that intercooler is bigger than what I thought it was.

Glad to see it can clear the PS AND the AC.

Isn't it too big? you have to cut into the bumper quite a bit in order to use it to it's maximum efficiency...........I'll have to take some temp. reading with my ebay kit to compare it with you fellas and the Greddy kit.

MY NEW REPLACEMENT IN KIT:241 bux shipped with thread reinforced silicon couplers

On stock bumper: BEFORE THE IC WAS STOLEN

with my corksport bumper unpainted:BEFORE IT WAS STOLEN

and painted IC and bumper: BEFORE IT WAS STOLEN

I honestly cannot begin to compare this kit with the Greddy kit but once I install everything again we can compare numbers.

it's 27x5.5x2.5

the new one is 28x5.5x2.5

if I need to cool the air more I can do water or Nitrous injection on the IC............the only thing that bothered me with the Greddy Kit was the size.....it's clearly a race application and not good for me at this point.....

THIS is how I would properly USE the Greddy kit:

Was I reading that right? Did you paint the intercooler also and do you have any more pics of the car with that bumper / intercooler setup?

It looks REALLY nice and it looks like something that I would like to do.

Thanks.

Ok first things first. You will never build a better kit for the money then greddy already has made. If you run the stock ecu and a intercooler pipe pops off the car instantly dies. This might not sound that bad until it happens and you are on a 4 lane highway and you have to dodge cars going 80 around you. Ask me how I know. After that happened I bought the haltech 1 day later.

Second. You will see a temp rise at highway speeds with the large core intercoolers. I was doing some ducting the other day and found that mazda installed a steel plate on the back of the oil cooler that only appears to allow 30% of air flow through so it does not direct 200 degree air on to the ac cooler. Just remove that stupid plate and you temps go back down to what we had with the top mount ic. Hope this helps.

I'm going to get a plate of aluminum and make an underbelly tray..........direct some air from below through the IC and out a reverse vented hood scoop......My main concern is that the RAD. will get hot air from the IC and the oil cooler.........I'm going to see if there ARE benefits from waterWetter ..........if ANYTHING I should have more than enough room to fab some sort water injection...........
