What year is the car and is it a turbo or non turbo.

How cold is it where you live. The "smoke" could vary well be condinsation which you will see almost all day if its REAL cold. Before I said that I should have asked, what color smoke?

After its all warmed up the idle is around 1000? It should be around 750-800. Wish I could give more info but I can't untill I know what year and model it is.

When did he "have the seals replaced and whatnot?" Because that entails a complete rebuild of the engine.

The idle is probably because of a bad tps setting. You will have to adjust it. Search, its on the forums. The S5 had a hard time idling correctly anyway. My S5 NA idle bounces all over the place. Sometimes it idles high, sometimes normal, sometime low. After i beat on it it idles perfectly. if im nice it will sometimes almost stall.

its a 1990 convertable non turbo with 141,000 miles and the smoke is white and it is pretty cold here its like thick smoke for a lil then no smoke at all and the idle is right at the 1 mark.... anyway i cnat really drive it that fast the rear was hit which bent the rim or control arm or something so its wobbly have to get it fixed. also he had a aftermarket stearing wheel and when he out the stock one on the steering wheel is wayyyy off does that mean he installed it wrong? can i take it off and readjust it?

Jesus man. I WARNED you in your other thread about getting a car with problems. If you dont already know how to fix this **** you have gotten yourself into a cash pit. You should have listened.

Its going to cost a lot. Probably as much as what you paid for the car, unless he really stuck it to you hard from behind.

How much did you pay? Seriously.

I'd take the 'vert over the Corrado, honestly...problems or no problems...

And yes, with the wheels straight you can remove the steering wheel and reposition it.

seriously, depending on the amount of damage to the rear end it could take a few hundred to all of that cash you have to spend. If there is a lot of work that needs to be done then you are MUCH better off stripping the car and selling the parts. get your money back and buy another 7. Seriously. there is no reason to put more than a grand or so into a vert when you can find better running examples all over.

I suggest that if it gets to be more than $1500 to repair the car that you strip and sell the parts here. hten get another vert or NA and start replacing the parts on that car witht he performance parts you have now.

There is a HUGE difference in cost between replacing a rim or getting the control arm replaced if you cant do the work yourself.

Blow the car up? If the recaro seats are in good condition they are worth a bunch of moey by themselves.

Don't be an idiot. Part it out. I would've kept the Corrado.

why blow it up?? thats a ridiculous thing to say. just fix it a little at a time if its that bad. you have other cars to drive and it would make a fun project.

Bah, I like 'em. Wouldn't take one in place of my TII but I'd certainly keep one NEXT to my TII. And I'll take the G60 over the VR6 any day.

There are far more unreliable things out there compared to Corrados.

I dont htink he was being literal.

But raptor is right. There is at least $1500 in performance parts there. You could make a decent amount of cash parting it out. If you can disassemble the engine and sell off the tranny/clutch/flywheel you could probably top out over $2k without much effort.

It gets harder everyday to find replacement engines.
