Just bout this 90 GTU, pretty good condition with about 120k miles on it. Had a couple of expected problems, just as any other car you buy with that kind of mileage on it.
Now i talked to the guy about this problem i was having and he told me that since it was babied, and almost never redlined that i lose power after about 5k rpm. He said i could wire the port in the intake manifold open. But after reading some threads in here. I could just use some carbon cleaner to spray in the throttle body right? Kinda new to rotary's so i wanna do the right thing and take no chances.
Thanks
Zach

In my case, on my 87, the port sleeves were carbon'ed closed, but the actuators were fine. When I had the Upper Intake Manifold (UIM) off to change my pulsation dampener, I sprayed the intake runners with carb cleaner galore. After spraying a bit, I'd then try actuating it by hand by pushing on the rods. (Pulling in your case.) They freed up eventually. (Well, on the butt dyno, there was more power. I've never actually done the grease test... maybe I'll do that some time.)
I believe the aux ports are activated by the air pump on Series 5 cars, and there's some kind of diagnostic you can preform by hooking the aux port actuators up to an external source. I don't remember exactly, but it's worth looking into. (FAQ > FSM, or Haynes manual)
