Smile Got my true duals on today!

I got bored waiting for my damn ECU to get to the states already, so I went searching for something that would flow a little better than my 2.5"single->2" dual system. I noticed that Rarest RX was selling his Mazdatrix true duals and since I live near him, I decided to go for it and pick them up (great guy to do business with, by the way - he still has some stuff from his GTUs).

So today I installed the exhaust and fired her up, and WOW was that something. I've never heard a car that sounds like this. Because the exhaust never collects, you hear exhaust pulses from each individual rotor. What results from that is a sound that's sort of like a combination of a harley and an RX7. Throw upon that the whine of a supercharger and you have one unique sounding car.

Everyone always says, "true duals are completely unstreetable, they're so effing loud, don't do it." Don't listen to that crap, because honestly, in terms of volume, this true dual system is just as loud as what I had before. And because it's a much less high-pitched sound, my car gets a lot less attention from officers of the law. Also, concerning the low-end - I noticed a bit of low-end torque lost. As an example, in first gear, if I went full throttle from a roll, the tires would begin to break loose at 3000rpm. Now they break loose around 4000 rpm. I do think I lost a little bit of low-end, but the supercharger certainly picks up the slack.

I would recommend this system to anyone with a pretty highly modified car, whether it be supercharged or street ported.

it'd be nice if you could get a video or audio file of what your talking about. I'd love to hear the whine of the supercharger+duals
I think true duals only real purpose is with a supercharger, nice work man! any dyno #'s? if you can afford the SC you can afford to do a dyno

No point in doing a dyno if your car can't hit redline. I'm installing a Wolf 3D V4 along with the hand controller. My trouble is that apparently I'm running an absurd amount of boost (the most I've seen was .75bar on the gauge which=~11lbs. As a result I can't get my timing quite right and my SAFC-II can't really give me precise enough control for good driveability.

So I get a few days for dyno time, starting on January 17th, provided that the ECU gets here and is installed by then. Who knows what the car will make, it's really anyone's guess.

You've gotta love that harley sound right!

This is a sound clip of my car with true duals. Its an 89 GTU. Don't mind the blown exhaust gasket. Its supposed to be a tad quieter. But the clip gets the point accross.

Its not pure harley its a mix between a bike's engine and a rotary engine. It makes for a nice beat/tone. Unlike most of t he N1 knock offs around. I hate the way N1's sound all together. Not to mention the fact that Apex'I uses the same muffler on a civic and on an FC. Its just wrong to use universal crap like that!

I don't know about making a video. I tried making some tonight and my digital camera really couldn't capture the sound very well. It sort of burbled all the sound so you can't get a good idea of what it really sounds like.

And I believe 1987RX7guy has the system with Racing Beat mufflers, same as I do.

Snub is correct NSB Racing Beat mufflers. Mind you all that it should be less "loud" if you have a perfect system. mine has a rather noisy exhaust leak that I haven't had the time to fix or find a good shop to do the work for me. But soon I will have it fixed! And you shall hear it again!

I like the sound, and your systems looks nice! but I personally would chop off the tips of the mufflers and weld-on some big-*** sewerpipes! But with a iron-mesh installed @ the end, otherwise some morning I'd might find a homeless person sleeping inside! hahaha just kidding.. nice!
