got a few random questions

ok i got a few issues with my T2. they arent serious, just kinda bug me.

1st-- whenever i hit my brakes, my instrument cluster lights come on. dunno why, but they do.

2nd--will a S4 wastegate actuator work on S5 turbo. my S5 turbo's wastegate is frozen and wont open under boost. i have a wastegate actuator on a spare turbo but its from an 87 turbo. will it work?

The Zenki WG actuator arm is straight; the Kouki WG arm has a kink in it.&nbsp How do you know it's "frozen" - they are really hard to push/pull by hand - are you getting uncontrollable overboosting?&nbsp Those WG actuators rarely fail...

The lights thing sounds like you could have some wires shorting out on each other. So when you hit your brake the power is being sent to your gauge cluster too.

yeah i was getting really bad overboost so i figured the wastegate wasnt opening. i pegged my 20psi boost gauge. there doesnt seem to be any damage from the boost so i just disconected the wastgate actuator arm from the actual wastegate on the exhaust side of the turbo. i didnt know if that would work or how safe it would be but it cured my boost problem. can i put a kink in the 87-88 turbo? or can i swap the arms? how can i fix my car without buying a new turbo?

Check the ground wires for the brake/taillights. The electricity may be 'hunting' for a ground. It can do some weird things.

for the brake light thing, double check someone hasen't replaced one of the 1157 (double contact, dual filiment) bulbs with a 1156 (single contact single filiment).

You may also wish to use the search function found in the upper right hand corver of this page, as this was covered about 6 months ago on this board.
