Or if your real pickey, its known as a Air Bypass Solenoid Valve, on the 88 model. Used only during that 17 second periond when you start the car cold and the rpms go to 3000 rpm. Works in conjunciton with the bac to do that. If you look at that other car you have, the n/a, you find the same valve, but its located on the left side of the engine, a bit below the oil filter. The solenoids are interchangeble from a n/a to a turboii.

I was going to say something about how you can also remove that Air Suppy Valve that is located on the back of the throttle body. Make a home made blockoff plate.
That darn thing is just used when the pwr steering is in use. Not needed.

Not so. Look again. The broken part he shows is the AIR BYPASS SOLENOID VALVE. The other part is the AIR SUPPLY VALVE.
The air supply valve is located on the back side of the throttle body(should say mainfold, I guess). Its out of site. You gotta be looking for it. Its on a turbo model. On a 87, its just used when you turn the power steering.
The airbypass solenoid(also known on a 89 up model as the aws) is what is shown in the picture. Its only used during the first 17 seconds of starting a cold engine.
So, two different items. Also on a 89 model up, the valves function varies just a tad from the 87 model, but on the whole do the same function.
I also know that J-RAT has a n/a car/engine, and it also has the same valve that he is showing in the picture, but is located on the other side of the engine on a n/a but much lower. So if he wanted, he could have taken the air bypass solenoid valve off the n/a and put it on his turboII(which is shown in his picture). Different bracket I think, but the same valve.
