Thumbs up Got another rx7.. different i guess?

So, I sold my 88 GXL awhile ago (after i had un-carbon locked the engine) that i picked up for around 300 bucks... I never thought i'd get back into these after i had finished my Turbo bimmer build....

So.... A guy asks me if he can trade me his grandmothers RX7 (not running) for some cash off of his bill (300zxTT i'm building for him)....

I stroll out there and check out the car, i agree and start toying with it..

Carbon Locked and all she sat, very pretty.. a Red on black cloth 1989 GTU....

The plugs were all crossed up, and the compression wasnt as low as the last one.. but i cant seem to keep her running?? She'll start A-Ok (SOMETIMES) and then just dies (after running for about 5-10 seconds) i unplugged the maf and such...

Any idea's??

I've

Put

New plugs
More Seafoam
New gas (drained old before i started)
Cut belts to reduce engine strain...

Any pointers here guys???
And its good to be back..

the fuel pump only primes the rail? That is not enough to keep the car running.??

Check your Vane airflow sensor(use alldata and find out what the ohms are suppose to be)

Check map sensor line.(my car was messsed up because the manifold line was clogged with carbon)

get a bottle of propane and attact a hose to the end of the torch part. Start the car and check for vaccum leaks.

Then maybe ohm the crank angle sensor.

goodluck!

Its broke, it could be anything is my other answer

See my sig. for FSM links with wiring diagrams. I would start with the fuel pump circuit and Airflow meter (the FSM shows how to test it). Good luck and welcome back to the RX-7 community.

I wouldn't swap in a walbro on an NA to try and get it running. It'll just have more issues from running way too rich afterwords.

Its cool to see it...

I wonder how much a running GTU 89 in great condition would bring..
