Thumbs up Got an 86 GXL Running, BOO YAA!

Whoo! Just a little over three weeks ago the most mechanic work I have ever done in my life was change my fluids and drive shaft. In between that period to now, I have stripped my GSL-SE and started my TII swap AYAAAAND brought back a friends GXL TO LIFE!

The car had not been running since 01. It was in a junk yard and my friend traded a dirt bike that cost less than 100 bux for an 86 GXL. He asked me for help, since I do own a 7 , and I said ok. I had him start by getting new plugs and wires.
The dumbasses before threw in F'ing lawnmower spark plugs!

From having to revive my GSL-SE, I knew that dirty fuel lines would be a problem, so I cleaned all of the fuel lines. Well the car finally started to turn, but bad. None of the fuel injectors had grommets(except for one) and 2 had no o-rings.

Today, I went to Lowes, found some grommits(1/4th) and they work wonderful! I am using my GSL-SE injectors for secondaries however, because I forgot to get the orings for the other 2 injectors.

Well after taking apart the manifold/TB well over 3 times and tightening and unscrewing and tightening again....SHE STARTED!!! Gawd I rock.(I had to do a bit more than this, but thats the story in a nutt shell)

Ok, now I need help!! The clutch sticks to the floor. No pressure at all. I believe it is the Slave since those tend to go out on these cars, but I do not know if it is the master or slave. I have yet to bleed the clutch, maybe it is just bad fluid??? I looked at the lines like people had suggest, no problems with them. Maybe one is clogged???

Also, it takes a long *** time for the car to start. First, it almost always turns(no more than three key turns of the ignition to get it started).
Second, it is getting gas. Third, it doesnt always start. It takes a while for it to start, and during the process it ROCKS LIKE A MONSTER!!!!!

I need help about this rocking problem, is it just from sitting so long?? The last time I got it started, I let it run(with my foot on the gas) and finally the smoke started to come to a sease. If I let go of the gas it dies.

I figure that it needs to get all of that gas outta its system, however, the radiator gets really hot and spews a little. I do not believe that there are any vacuum leaks, because I made sure to take care of those as I came across one.

I am going to tune the TB, because I figure that could be a problem. I am also changing the oil, radiator fluid, tranny fluid, rear end fluid, and buying more clamps tomorrow. I am also going to bleed the clutch system and buy new orings for the original injectors. AAALLsooo, I am going to put new belts on and adjust the timing(have no idea how to adjust) as well as fab a way to put on a K&N cone.

Anyways, I need help.
1) The monster shake rattle and roll(HOWEVER, there is no shaking once the engine has started and I am giving it gas. It purrs like a kitten)
2) The Clutch
3) The radiator
4) The timing
5) Doesnt stay idol

One thing I think about the car not starting right away is the starter. I think that it is going out, and will check tomorrow as I am changing the oil.

Well, I will let you guys know how tomorrow goes

1.) proably a torn motor mount.
2.) crack open the bleeder on the slave and fill the master and start pumping the clutch.
3.) if the radiator has a problem there is a Koyo group buy for radiators for 250.00
4.) check the FSM
5.) check for vacume leaks, check compression.

Already! Thanks for the reassurance. These answers were right along the same line as what I thought I would need to do. Except for number 4. I thought of going to my Haynes Manual :-P

Need Help...

Well...It does not want to idle. I started it only once today(on first try). Last night if you quit giving it gas past 4.5k then it would almost die(sometimes come back). Today we were able to hold it at 3k without dying. It fluctuated, and I adjusted the throttle body. But it still fluctuates a little. I think my bigger injectors could have been a factor, so I took those out and will tell the kid to buy a new one tomorrow at the junk yard.

There could be a vacuum leak, but I saw nothing when looking around. As for the motor mounts, there are only two correct? I saw the black part rattle when the engine would try to start but there were no obvious cracks.
I am going to look at that(from underneath the car) and the starter later today, its just tooooooo hotttt out side!~!

I need help with the clutch. THERE IS NO PRESSURE AT ALL! We tried pumping it by hand, but there was maybe one or two times that any fluid came out. And if it did, it was barely any that shot out.

I am thinking of draining it by taking off the slave. Would that work? Also could that be the problem? When it cools down outside, I am going to take apart those hoses to see if they are clogged.

As for the compression test, I will do that later this week when I get that other injector.
