Good places for ignition box.

Yes, I tried searching, never found a direct answer.

This is a street car, a 1990 GTU N/A, but I converted it from EFI to Carb (no flame, it was because my old EFI system was poorly maintained by PO and was basically rotted away)

Anyway, I have a Crane Cams HI-6 box (6000-6420), and need to know safe places to put it, I like to monitor things, like the status light, and also work with the rev limiter and other functions. Is it safe to mount it in the passenger compartment (strapped to the right side of the radio pillar, just below the glovebox) and have passengers? The wiring will all be routed out the back (pickups down the trans tunnel, coil wiring out the passenger engine harness hole), they'll be routed back and around the rear of the dash away from anything pretty much.

How hot do ignition boxes get and do they have a risk of shocking somebody that might brush up against the box?

I want to mount it IN the car, the passenger floorboard replacing the ECU was my first spot, but then I thought about the carpet and not being able to monitor it.

Any ideas and knowledge would be great.
