Good news on the seized motor!!!!!!!

Well, my engine guy finally got the motor- and as luck would have it, it was internally undamaged!!
For some reason the front bearing spun! He just replaced the bearing and the fornt stationary gear, and sanded a tiny lip that had formed on the e-shaft, and it's as good as new, less than 3 hours later.
It's too bad too, that was one of my race bearings from the original rebuild... replaced with an OEM one.

Anyways, the engine will be back in a few days, and I'll have it running again by the weekend! I just have to get a clutch ASAP now!

what exactly happened? I think my motor is seized. . .

okay here's the story, I bought my s4 TII off a guy who had a minor engine fire. And when I say minor I'm talkin' I only had to replace the passenger-side harness and fuel rails. Anyway, I was able to turn the motor by hand when everything was off the block (ie turbo, lower and upper I.M.

I put everything back together and now it doesn't want to start. I even put on a new starter. I know I primered the sh*t out of it too. Now I can't even turn it by hand. My friend said it might be siezed. So tomorrow I intend to take off the spark plugs and spray the whole thing with wd-40 or brake cleaner and see if I can loosen it up.

Let me know what you guys think.

Don't use brake cleaner or anythig like that. WD40 is OK.
Maybe you dropped a bolt or something in and it's jammed?

wow... great news on the engine!

Bearings don't have to be matched or anything, then, I guess?

How about an extended-break in for that bearing... hmmm

My car is slowly coming back to life... another week and it should be back on the road... I hope

Speaking of seized engines, there's an 1988 RX-7 on E-bay that can probably be had for $500-$750. Supposedly has a seized engine. Car looks to be in pretty good condition - a good deal if you live close to the seller and can pick it up.

Sorry I didn't have this E-bay info when I posted the above reply: Ebay # 2417005534, the car is in Wheeling, Illinois and the Buy It Now is $500. I would post a link but don't no how.
