good idea to NOT tune...10psi?

ok i have a car with about 93front compression and 90 rear using piston compression tester....im about to port its wastegate and toss in the SAFC already....i got time....but will the engine just blow? OR....will it just die within the next year assuming care and proper maintainance are given...and NOT constantly ragged on....(i understand as well this is a case by case senario but generally speaking whats MOST LIKELY going to happen....i belive its just going to for example...say i haev 30k left on it....ill just have...15 or 20k it wont just die in a week from basic driving and occacional spritied driving right?

just checkin!

mods: ported wastegate, walbro 255, 720cc injectors and SAFC.....thats all here...

rotary egines die without rhyme or reason some of the time. yes mileage does play into the equation but if it starts and runs fine then i do not put much stock into compression numbers since it varies much on the tester and how the test is performed.

if the engine has unknown mileage it may be a good idea to rebuild before modding, if it has less than 100k then i say go for it, if it dies it was just its time to go.

being ready for the rebuild is a good idea, but compression testers vary a bunch with rpm, weather condition, gauge condition etc. so much that you're not looking for the peak number, but the eveness of the bounces.

the actual compession # doesnt mean a whole lot

I'm considering strapping a turbo onto the car (with tune, however). I'm going to subscribe to the thread, let us know how it goes

(105\100 Compression numbers after repeated tests in varyous conditions using a brand new starter and different guages)

Neither is these mods will increase engine wear or reduce it's lifespan (assuming correct mixtures). Porting the wastegate will lower boost, so that will actually increase lifespan.

either rebuild it now and possibly save money b/c more parts will be in spec, or do the mods and drive it till it blows
