a good ECU upgrade

a good ECU upgrade

I am in need of a good ECU upgrade for my 88 GTU N/A
I hear lots of talk about just "piutting in a chip" and i will have huge gains but i dont know which would be best.

any suggestions?

Skip the chip. Save your money for a standalone. To help yourself make a decision do a pros/cons list for each. Things like price, performance, versatility, etc...

In my mind the standalone(although more expensive initially) is a better overall deal.

Um, for the cost of a standalone ($1000) plus tuning (another couple hundred), you could have bought a turbo motor changeover and dropped it in.

jet chips makes one for a n/a ecu, you have to send it in to them though. i was going to do that a long time ago but decided it would be better to get a apexi safc II, that way i can customize it to my specific car and be able to adjust when i get more mods. besides fuel control the ecu chip would advance the timing which can be done mechanicly for free.
