it's good if you have another $5-10k to spend to make it work

heh? what do you mean? I asked the guy what kind it is and he told me it is a borgwarner turbo. I want to upgrade to a bigger/better turbo for my car, my stock one is at it's limit.

after the turbo you will want:

1. manifold
2. custom oil/coolant lines
3. heat shielding
4. wastegate
5. stand alone....e6k/wolf/lt8 etc..
6. wideband/dyno tuning
7. upgraded clutch
8. another pair of at least 720's
9. some wider wheels, and some sticky tires
10. You'll probably want to upgrade the radiator
11. Some kind of boost controller

then you'll have to still modify the DP to the location of the new turbo, and adjust the IC piping.

Its not a simple bolt on process.

12. a real pain in the ***

I've seen some guys upgrade the s5 turbo to a t4 housing and a 60-1 wheel, could I maybe go that route? and who does that upgrade?

What are your goals? Figure that out before you decide. If you are looking for low 12s or 11s even, don't bother with a hybrid. Just start saving to buy everything. You need turbo/wastegate/manifold/standalone/(2) 1600cc injectors/tuning/misc. fittings and hoses. Now after that a better radiator will probably want to bought(1FastT2 had/has a stock one for a while and runs 11s though).

High 12s? Go with a good hybrid. Try bnrsupercars.com
You will need the extra 2 720cc secondaries probably and a walbro pump and some kind of boost controller(even a $30 home depot one). And you should get dyno tuned with the s-afc, and 12s should be fairly easy with a good launch.

FWIW the BNR stage 2 has already made a low 12sec pass (12.3 i think).

here is the deal i have a hyrbid turbo on my car right now... i hit 11.92, and it is not yet dyno tunned! so you can break into 11's with a hybrid... however I have a T04RR turbo.. which is a little bigger than that one on ebay... and it will break me into tens... however this is my setup now...
550cc primaries
1600cc secondaries.
microtech lt-8
large FMIC
turbo xs type h bov
3inch exhaust
tb mod
large street port
and a manual boost controller. Without the cost of the new T04RR turbo that i haven't put in yet... waiting to max out the hybrid.
is now 9000.00 CND
so you better have lots of patience...
I am not flamming you just putting into perspective that my car was not on the road for a full year because i was doing all of this... and i still have to pay for proffessional dyno tunning.
your Present setup will need the following to make it work with that turbo from e-bay:
(PRICES FROM RX7STORE.NET)
Cast Manidold (T04, Standard Wastegate) For 87-91 Mazda RX-7 = 259.00
HKS Standard Wastegates = 345.00
BLITZ DD BOV Kit 89-92 RX-7 = 290.00
Bosch 1600cc Injectors = 99.00 Times 2
High Flow 89-95 RX-7 255 ltr/hr Pump = 160.00
Fuel Pressue Regulator 35-90 PSI = 163.50
From (http://www.fcstore.com/)
Microtech LT-8 with laptop = 948.00
Plus misc extra parts = 150.00 (give or take)
Plus proffessional tunning = 350.00
The grand total = 22873.50 USD
Doing all the work yourself! = 0.00 (THE ONLY FREEBIE YOU WILL GET)

I just think my stock turbo is maxing out because I was running my current setup except I was running my factory TMIC,and I ran a 14.1@99.3mph. Now that I have installed my FMIC, my best time was a 13.8@101.1 Here's my timeslip from that run.
2.156---------60ft.
5.853---------330ft.
8.958---------1/8ET.
79.77---------1/8mph.
11.550-------1000 ET.
13.800-------1/4ET.
101.10-------1/4mph.
Now I was launching at 4k rpms, and then shifting at around 7800rpm. I noticed that when I shifted into 3rd gear and was about 50ft. from the finish line my car was hitting some kind of a rev limiter. Should I maybe be shifting a little bit earlier and be going threw the traps in 4th instead of 3rd?

the car has a rev limiter at 7800

with a stock turbo and stock porting you are not making any power after 6500 or so. no point going past 7000

I can't remember about a completely stock turbo, but its hard to maintain higher boost to redline. So if you shift at 6500 you can get back into full boost quicker. I noticed that if I shift into 4th it drops my ET.

I've seen 106/107 traps on the stock turbo.

101 is not maxing it out yet.
