Going about getting a TPS

First off i think i need a TPS. Considering that when i shift ... the accelerator is depressed slighty and the clutch is being engaged into whatever gear and the car rocks a lot cause the stupid gas isn't going to the engine so i have to quickly press the gas even more... and when i let go of the gas the car bucks sometimes.

1) i do need a TPS? or something else...

2) where should i go about getting one since i know the dealer is probably gonna rape me. Ex.) Ebay, Mazdatrix, etc...

TPS failure, as in dead spots, is usually identified by surging idle/throttle.

If your driving and trying to hold it at 3k rpm, and its surging forward every second or so, or if your car is at idle and it surges up and down a few hundred rpm, thats a good sign that the TPS is toast.
On fc3spro.com you can read the guide on adjusting the tps, it has a few identifiers if the tps is bad.
There is also a device that you can build using leds and **** that can identify a bad tps, but the best way is reading the guide at fc3spro.com
Finally, if you are experiencing surging at idle, try holding the tps sensor in all the way, does the surging go away? if it does, another sign that the tps is bad.

Me personally, I replaced mine with a brand new one. The s4 tps from the dealer is about 220$cndn. The s5 is alot more becuase its a dual tps sensor.
Having a new one will last another 15 years, and 220$ cndn aint to much if you save your money and just get it over with.

I'm not sure that you need a new TPS. I'd do the trouble shooting and the adjustment/tunign first to see if that would help the bucking problem. Do a search on the 2nd Gen forum for "engine bucking or surging" and "TPS adjustment". There is alot of info on this problem. IF you can't get it under control with the trouble shooting and tuning I have a local Auto Retirement Center that has an 89 vert with a TPS they'll sell for $75. I checked cause I lost my adjustment screw and just wanted to buy that off of them but they wanted to sell the TPS with the screw. I thougy $75 was too much for a spring and screw when I can get a new one from the dealer for $38. If you determine you need a new TPS and want spend $60 for a used one I'd be willing to chip in $15 for the adjustment screw and sent you the TPS unit. Also might want to check the dashpot adjustment since this also contributes to the engine bucking problem.

Its sounds like your rearend pumpkin bushings are worn out. You are saying when you let off the gas and the motor takes the load the car rocks back. But if you step on the gas the car rocks forward right?

nah the car rocks both front and forward.

and as for pressing the accelerator and not getting any gas to the engine would be a fuel pump problem or tps?
