goin drag racing tomorrow....
my advise is to tell everyone its stock and put an automatic (fake)shifter in it and tell everyone its real fast! lol back in the day ppl would put 6 cyl logos on big block v8 cars and they would have a quite exhaust it was realy funny
Or you can have a REAL automatic, and ACTUALLY BE slow.
don't do a huge burnout, just spin the tires enough to burn off the bleach; burning out does no good on street tires.

When the light turns green, let go of the clutch and floor the gas pedal. When redline comes, up shift to the next gear. When you cross the finish line, start to decellerate to a safe speed.

Check your tire pressure, change your oil, remove a little weight, have fun, be safe, and kick some ***.

Is this your first time? If you want to get a good reaction time, go when the last yellow comes on. If you wait 'til the green, you will get a bad reaction time. (.500 is perfect) Good luck and have fun.

Ya, what he said
NO WAY!!! if its a 4 light set up you want to engage the clutch on the 2nd yellow light, that will get you the best launch, and I'd recomend launch at 5K rpms or if you have drag radials go to 6k......a friend of mine with an N/A ran 13.9 with a 1.9 60ft with his drag radials...
Go on the green if you want to lose. Go when the last yellow goes if you don't want to lose by as much
It takes time for you to see the light, realize OH I have to go now, tell your foot to let go of the clutch, actually MOVE your foot off the clutch, and have the engine actually transmit torque to the rear wheels, and get the vehicle moving the 6-8" until the front wheels are no longer breaking the timing beam. Sure, none of those individually take a lot of time, but they all add up and can be .1 or more seconds!
and remember, RELAX!
come to the track with at least 1/4 tank of gas, but try not to come with too much more than that. Take out your spare tire and jack, and any garbage you have in the car. I duinno about a burnout, do a quick little one, but AVOID the water box. Drive around it. A little burnout will warm up your tires a little, it's not going to be very warm in ohio tomorrow! and every little bit counts
Most importantly, HAVE FUN!
